OUTREACH & PARTNERSHIPS

We have had the pleasure to work with a diversity of schools and groups, co-designing and building imaginative urban forest gardens in London. If you would like to design a forest garden in your community space, please do get in touch.

FEATURED PARTNERS:

SETH & URBAN FOREST COLLECTIVE

We have recently launched a new scheme to support young people with autism into employment and education through horticulture – SETH – in partnership with Urban Forest Collective. Sessions are offered to autistic young people aged 18–30, who are able to travel independently or with a support worker.

Activities include:

  • Gardening: Plant propagation, including safe tool use, and DIY projects
  • Social & Business Skills: Contribute to a micro-enterprise by selling plants and seeds, marketing
  • Wider Skill Development: Teamwork, financial literacy and budgeting
  • Nature Connection: Develop skills in conservation and forest gardening within an urban context

Would you, or someone you know, like to take part? If so, please get in touch.

FINSBURY PARK REWILDING

We support the Finsbury Park Rewilding team in a long-standing partnership with the Friends of Finsbury Park. Workdays are usually held on the last Saturday of each month, meeting at the central cafe for a 10am start. The date and meeting point may change occasionally, so please check in first. Tools are provided and all are welcome. Sign up to the WhatsApp group Rewild Urban Green Spaces for further information, or visit the FP Rewilding webpage.

WILD CITY – THE SALTERS INSTITUTE

Running over three consecutive years, Wild City engaged primary schools across North London, supporting young people to design their own vibrant forest gardens. The Edible Landscapes are currently developing our school programs onsite, so please note that this project is currently on hold.

Typically, we work with six primary schools per year, supporting young people through interactive learning experiences. Each year, one of these schools wins the prize to have their design realised. We then commence the build of a buzzing, humming forest garden. The students join us to plant trees, climbers, shrubs and herbs, create artwork, and learn how to care for the garden.

The Wild City Project empowers young people to create sanctuaries for learning and connecting within nature. Activities usually take the form of play and discussion, alongside the practical explorations and design. We delve into subjects ranging from climate to soil life.

The Forest Garden Healing Space

A two-year project working with young adults from migrant and refugee backgrounds to create their own Forest Garden Healing Space in Hackney. This project took place at Hanover Sheltered Housing, delivered in collaboration with The Garden of Earthly Delights and Walthamstow Tool Library.

Working with residents, we co-created a garden featuring a raised pond, herb spiral, rain garden and sheltered seating space with a grape pergola. This became a much-loved social area for residents to share meals, create workshops, and cook together outdoors. Funded by Groundwork’s Our Space Award.
